The resort settlement Kiten, located 56 km south of Bourgas and 446 km southeast from Sofia is one of the most famous and attractive spots along the southern Black Sea coast, where the forest diversions of Strandzha Mountain meet the crystal clear sea depths. The romantic feeling is complemented by the picturesque nature and the two beaches:
Between the two beaches, in the see there is a peninsular with the mythic name Urdoviza, which is in fact the first name of the spectacular town. The legend talks about the beautiful Bulgarian woman – Stana Urodoviza, a master of the fortress and desired by the sultan to be his wife. The beauty accepted under one condition – the sultan had to promise that he will free the territory she manages to cover on a horse from dawn till dusk. Thus the brave Bulgarian managed to relief from tax all Strandzha area and found her death together with her horse on the North beach in Kiten, which is named today Atliman – the Bay of the horse.
The season opens here in May and continues until October. The average atmosphere temperature in summer months is 28°C, and the sea - 26°C, but the location of the settlement nearby a natural forest mitigates the torrid summer heat.
